The Holy Week begins today. During the Holy Week we celebrate the mysteries of our Lord’s passion, death and resurrection, the central events of our salvation. Let us attend these celebrations with special devotion:

  • The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday 4.4 at 6 pm in St. Henry’s cathedral. There will be no evening Mass on Tuesday in our church.
  • On the Holy Thursday 6.4 we commemorate the Last Supper of the Lord and the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. This is a feast of all priests. Holy Mass begins at 6 pm. After the Mass, there will be an all-night adoration. There is a list on the information board, please put your name to indicate the time of your prayer especially during the night.
  • Good Friday – the celebration of Jesus’ passion and death. The Way of the Cross in Finnish begins at 2 pm; the liturgy at 3 pm. Confession starts at 2 pm. Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Catholics between the ages of 18 until 60 are obliged to fast. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and two small meals. A prayer in Malayalam begins at 10.30 am.
  • on the Holy Saturday traditional blessing of the Easter food at 11 am., solemn Easter Vigil at 9.30 , blessing of the food after the Vigil
  • on the Easter Sunday the bishop emeritus’ solemn Mass in Finnish at 10 am, Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30, Mass in Polish at 4 pm and Mass in English at 6 pm.

We wish you a blessed Holy Week, peace and silence to meditate Easter’s mysteries.
