The feast of St. Mark, the evangelist will be celebrated on Tuesday 25.4 and the feast of St. Catherine of Siena on Saturday 29.4.

There will be a Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help in English on Wednesday after the evening Mass. It is possible to bring own prayer requests that will be read during the Novena. The prayer requests can be dropped into a box at the statue of the Virgin Mary.

Young people who will attend the World Youth Day in Portugal will organize a bazaar on Sunday 30.4 in the parish hall. They offer bakery and lottery. They hope to receive some support for the expenses of their trip.

The plenary indulgence is granted (under the usual conditions of a sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and a prayer for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff) to the faithful who, on Divine Mercy Sunday, in a spirit that is completely detached from the affection for a sin, even a venial sin, recite the Our Father and the Creed, and also adding a devout prayer (e.g. Merciful Jesus, I trust in you!).

The fundraising for the poor during the Lent brought nearly 1600 Euros and the collection on the Palm Sunday 1460 Euros. Many thanks for your donations.

We invite children to a Sunday school in Finnish. The meeting will take place on the Sunday 23.4 at 10 am in the parish hall.

There will be an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament exclusively for praying for all Catholic priests in Finland on Saturday 22nd of April form 3.30 till 5 pm.

We thank all those who took part in the preparation of the Holy Week liturgy. We thank our sacristans, our organist and our choir for wonderful music, altar servers, those who set the flowers in the church and in the parish hall. May God bless you.

On the Easter Monday Mass in Finnish will be celebrated at 10 am and at 6 pm.

There will be an Easter liturgy in Ukrainian on Saturday 15.4 at 2.30 pm.

There will be Mass in Hungarian on Saturday 15.4 at 4 pm in St. Henry’s cathedral.

There will be Mass in Hyvinkää, in the Old church, on Saturday 15.4 at 4 pm.

There will be a meeting for the youth on Saturday 15.4 at 6 pm in the parish hall.

The Holy Week begins today. During the Holy Week we celebrate the mysteries of our Lord’s passion, death and resurrection, the central events of our salvation. Let us attend these celebrations with special devotion:

  • The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday 4.4 at 6 pm in St. Henry’s cathedral. There will be no evening Mass on Tuesday in our church.
  • On the Holy Thursday 6.4 we commemorate the Last Supper of the Lord and the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. This is a feast of all priests. Holy Mass begins at 6 pm. After the Mass, there will be an all-night adoration. There is a list on the information board, please put your name to indicate the time of your prayer especially during the night.
  • Good Friday – the celebration of Jesus’ passion and death. The Way of the Cross in Finnish begins at 2 pm; the liturgy at 3 pm. Confession starts at 2 pm. Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. Catholics between the ages of 18 until 60 are obliged to fast. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and two small meals. A prayer in Malayalam begins at 10.30 am.
  • on the Holy Saturday traditional blessing of the Easter food at 11 am., solemn Easter Vigil at 9.30 , blessing of the food after the Vigil
  • on the Easter Sunday the bishop emeritus’ solemn Mass in Finnish at 10 am, Mass in Finnish for children at 11.30, Mass in Polish at 4 pm and Mass in English at 6 pm.

We encourage all parishioners to attend the sacrament of reconciliation before Easter. There is an opportunity for confession on weekdays at 4.45 pm, on Saturdays and Sundays half an hour before the Mass.

Caritas Finland’s Lenten Collection is collected to support development cooperation of Caritas Finland. Caritas works for peace, equity and good life. Your donation advances women’s food security in Kenya, adaptation of small holder farmers to climate change in Nepal, environmental justice in Myanmar and workers at risk of human trafficking in Bangladesh. You can donate via Caritas website caritas.fi, directly to Caritas’ bank account or to the donation box in the church.

The Legion of Mary gathers on Mondays after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

The parents of the First Communion children are invited to a meeting on Saturday 1.4 after the morning Mass in the church.

There will a one day retreat in Vietnamese on Saturday 1.4 at 12.00.

We invite young people between 13 and 19 years old to a meeting on Saturday 1.4 at 6 pm in the parish hall.

The next Sunday 2.4. is the Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord. On the Palm Sunday we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The blessing of palm branches will begin at 10 am at the front of the English school, followed by a joyful procession to the church and the Mass. You are welcome to bring your own palm or other branches to be blessed. There will be no Stations of the Cross devotion before the Mass and no Mass in Swedish at 11.30.

There will be Mass in Finnish in Espoo, in the Olari chapel on Sunday 2.4 at 4 pm.
