A week of prayers for the unity of Christians begins on Thursday 18th of January. More information on the website ekumenia.fi. Let us remember to pray for the unity of Christians. The Finnish Ecumenical Council needs our financial support; we can put our donations into a box at the back of the church on your right during the week of prayers.

All morning Masses during the next week will be celebrated in English.

The solemnity of St. Henry, the patron saint of our diocese and whole Finland will be celebrated on Friday 19.1.

The First Communion and Confirmation classes in English will take place on Saturday 20.1.

There will be Mass in Hyvinkää on Saturday 20.1 at 4 pm in the Old church.

There will be a meeting for the youth on Saturday 20.1 at 6 pm in the parish hall.

Two week-long pilgrimages will be organised next spring, to Poland and Bavaria. The trip will be led by our parishioner, Dr. Emil Anton, Doctor of Theology. The price of the trips is 1400-1500 Euros per person and there is a capacity of 20 people per trip. Registration is now open. More information on the notice board.

The time of Lent begins on Wednesday 22nd of February, which is the Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time of our conversion and preparation for Easter. The best way of our spiritual renewal is to receive sacraments of confession and Eucharist, prayer, fast and charity work.

Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting means partaking of only one full meal and of two light meals. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. There will be Holy Mass in English on the Ash Wednesday at 8 am and Mass in Finnish at 6 pm. The Mass at 6 pm will be recorded by the television and broadcasted on the following Sunday at 10 am. We will raise fund during the Lent to help the poor.

We will celebrate the Stations of the Cross in English on Sundays at 5.30 pm.

There will be an bazaar organized by the nuns from Belarus on Sunday 19th of February in the parish hall. All income is meant to support sisters’ charity work.

We invite young people 13 to 19 years old to a youth group meeting on Saturday 25.2 at 6 pm in the parish hall.

Catholic young people who plan to attend the World Youth Days in Portugal need our financial support. We can send our donations to the diocesan bank account – more details on the information board.

In November we pray especially for all the faithful departed. Everyone is invited to write and send us names of your departed relatives and friends by email: maria(ät)katolinen.fi. We will read these names in November during adorations and pray for them.

We can receive a plenary indulgence for the faithful departed under the general conditions until the 8th of November if we will visit a graveyard and pray for the departed.

Mary’s parish is organizing parish council elections. A member of the parish may nominate himself/herself as a candidate, or may nominate another member of the parish, if in writing the person confirms his / her consent to the candidacy. The candidates must inform the Parish Priest in writing by 14.11.2022.

The Legion of Mary gathers on Friday 11.11 after the evening Mass in the parish hall.

We invite all 14 – 30 years old young people to participate in the World Youth Day in Portugal next year. More details on the information board.

The bazaar for the victims of the war in Ukraine has raised €2,175. We thank the organisers and participants of the bazaar. The money has been sent to the community of the Sisters of Jerusalem in Warsaw. The second bazaar will take place on the next Sunday 10.4.

Caritas Finland’s Lenten Collection supports the livelihoods and food security of nomadic women in the province of Turkana, Kenya. The region is one of the poorest in Kenya and the threat of famine is constantly present. We can donate via Caritas web page (caritas.fi), directly to Caritas bank account or to the donation box in the church.

There will be a meeting for the parents of the First Communion children on the next Saturday 9.4 at 10.40 am in the church.

There will be Mass in Karjaa, in St. Catherine church on the next Saturday 9.4 at 2 pm.

Next Sunday is the Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord. On Palm Sunday we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The blessing of the palm branches will take place at 10.00 in front of the English school, followed by a joyful procession to the church and the Mass. You are welcome to bring your own palm or other branches to be blessed. There will be no Stations of the Cross devotion before the Mass and no Family Mass at 11.30 next Sunday.

There will be Mass in Tagalog on Saturday 15.1 at 11.30 am.

There will be an Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with prayers in English on Saturday, 15.1, from 3.30 pm till 5 pm as the continuation of the Bible Conference “Encounter with Jesus”.

There will be Mass in Hyvinkää, in the Old church on Saturday 15.1 at 4 pm.

A marriage course will be organized for those who plan to get married next year. The course will begin on Tuesday, the 11th of January 2022 in the parish hall of St. Henry’s cathedral at 7 pm.
